Anesthesia

Need a Consultation?

Anesthesia, translated from Greek, means “without sensation.” Initially, it was used to ensure that any procedure could be carried out as comfortably as possible for the patient. With the help of special anesthetic medications, sensitivity is completely or partially (as needed) removed from a specific area or the entire body. As a result, nerve endings stop transmitting pain impulses to the brain.

Thus, during the procedure, the patient does not feel any pain, and the dental appointment becomes as comfortable as possible. Special attention should also be paid to the emotional state: the patient remains calm and relaxed, which in turn positively affects the efficiency and speed of the procedure.

“SA-NATA” uses only the best and most advanced materials and equipment in its work. We are always up to date with the latest innovations in dentistry and medicine.

In the “SA-NATA” specialist’s chair, you can be 100% confident that you will not experience any pain during procedures or manipulations. Our goal is to make your visit to the “SA-NATA” clinic as comfortable, pleasant, safe, and effective as possible.

Types of Anesthesia in Dentistry at “SA-NATA” Kyiv

The network of “Sa-Nata” dental clinics uses several types of anesthesia:

  • Topical (Application)

  • Infiltration

  • Conduction (Nerve Block)

  • Computer-Controlled (STA)

Topical anesthesia is a type of local anesthesia that involves applying a special anesthetic substance (in the form of an ointment, gel, or spray) to a specific area — for example, the gum of the affected tooth. With this type of anesthesia, the numbing effect occurs very quickly, but its duration is short (up to 1 hour). Therefore, the topical anesthesia method is used in simple situations such as:

  • treating the mucous membrane in cases of stomatitis or gingivitis;

  • extracting a loose baby tooth;

  • removing plaque and tartar;

  • treating teeth before prosthetics;

  • during crown fitting, and similar procedures.

Infiltration Anesthesia in Dental Treatment

Інфільтраційна анестезія при лікуванні зубів

Infiltration anesthesia is the injection of an anesthetic (such as Articaine, Ultracaine, Novocaine, or Lidocaine), which is most commonly used to numb an area of the upper jaw. It is applied in cases such as:

  • treatment of deep caries;

  • treatment and cleaning of root canals;

  • removal of a tooth nerve;

  • treatment of pulpitis.

Conduction Anesthesia

Провідникова анестезія

Conduction anesthesia is a type of long-lasting pain relief achieved by injecting a more concentrated anesthetic solution. A distinctive feature of conduction anesthesia is that it completely blocks the trigeminal nerve, meaning all tissues in the treatment area become fully numbed.

Duration: about 2 hours.
It is actively used to numb not just one tooth, but a larger area requiring intervention. Conduction anesthesia is applied for both the upper and lower jaws.

Conduction anesthesia is used in the following cases:

  • for the treatment of multirooted teeth;

  • for the opening of granulomas and cysts;

  • for pulpitis;

  • for the extraction of several adjacent teeth;

  • for the treatment of complicated caries;

  • during implantation;

  • during orthopedic procedures.

It has become common in our society that every second patient is afraid of visiting the dentist. This happens because, based on past experiences, there is a false perception that sitting in a dentist’s chair is always painful, frightening, and unpleasant. However, we must remember that we now live in a world of technology, constant development, and progress — and dentistry has long ceased to be associated with pain and discomfort. Technology has advanced far ahead.

At the “SA-NATA” network of dental clinics, a large professional team of qualified specialists works using the best state-of-the-art equipment and the most advanced materials available today!

In the talented hands of the “Sa-Nata” professionals, you will feel comfortable, safe, calm, and fully satisfied with the results of our work!

Computer-Controlled Anesthesia (STA)

STA (Single Tooth Anesthesia System) is a computerized single-tooth anesthesia system that allows for easy and precise assessment of a patient’s tissue characteristics, measurement of their resistance, and painless administration of the anesthetic.

DPS (Dynamic Pressure Sensing Technology) is a revolutionary technology for dynamic pressure measurement during anesthetic injection, developed by Milestone Scientific (USA). Its main feature is the ability to successfully achieve localized anesthesia of a single tooth.

How is STA anesthesia performed?

The third-generation CompuDent STA Drive Unit computer anesthesia system used at the “SA-NATA” clinic ensures a controlled delivery speed of the anesthetic solution below the pain threshold.

The CompuDent STA Drive Unit for computer-controlled anesthesia is an innovative computerized system for performing various types of local anesthesia. It utilizes DPS technology, which allows for gentle tissue penetration and ensures that the anesthesia process causes no discomfort.

As the needle advances into the tissue, the system continuously reads information about tissue resistance. This data determines the optimal injection mode for the anesthetic, minimizing any unpleasant sensations.

One of the key principles of the STA anesthesia system is delivering the anesthetic directly to the nerve endings along the path of least resistance. This ensures that the patient experiences no pain or discomfort during the anesthesia process (such as sensations of “pressure” or “burning”).

Advantages of Computer-Controlled Anesthesia:

  • the procedure is performed as discreetly and painlessly as possible, significantly reducing patient anxiety and stress.

  • local anesthesia is highly effective and precise for performing all types of dental procedures.

  • considerable reduction in discomfort due to the absence of numbness in the lips, cheeks, and tongue.

  • a much smaller amount of anesthetic is used, reducing toxicity and the risk of allergic reactions.

  • thanks to high precision, the numbing effect occurs much faster — on average, within 1–2 minutes.

  • reduced risk of damage to ligaments and blood vessels of the oral soft tissues.

  • no excessive stretching of the soft tissues of the oral cavity.

  • the ability to anesthetize a single tooth without affecting half of the jaw or the cheek.

  • microprocessor-controlled anesthesia can be safely administered to patients with high blood pressure, pregnant women, and children.

  • the absence of a syringe and visible needle eliminates fear and discomfort for young patients.

Sleep Dentistry (General Anesthesia)

Лікування уві сні (загальна анестезія)

A new service at the Sa-Nata Dynasty clinic branch: sleep sedation.

It often happens that a child, teenager, or even an adult cannot tolerate a dental visit for complex treatments (such as pulpitis or implantation). This may be due to:

  1. intolerance to local anesthetics (severe allergic reaction);

  2. excessive sensitivity or an extremely low pain threshold;

  3. psychological difficulties, fear, or panic before dental treatment;

  4. long or potentially painful dental or gum procedures.

In such cases, at our “Sa-Nata Dynasty” clinic, we are ready to offer you a simple and completely safe solution — general anesthesia for both adults and children. It is also known as “Sedation” or “Medical Sleep.”

You sleep — we work. No pain, fear, or discomfort!

What is medical sleep?

Medical sleep, or medication-based sedation in dentistry, is a type of anesthesia that involves the use of next-generation sedative drugs to induce a light sleep in the patient. This method ensures pain relief and eliminates psychological and emotional stress during dental treatment.

The advantages of sleep dentistry at the “Sa-Nata Dynasty” clinic in Kyiv include:

  • no pain or discomfort;

  • maximum safety;

  • no stress and the ability to overcome fear of dentists;

  • quick and easy recovery after the procedure;

  • effective resolution of your dental problems.

Our doctors and anesthesiologists have extensive experience in performing dental treatments under sedation, using modern high-tech equipment and safe anesthesia methods.

Indications for dental treatment under medical sleep

It is recommended to perform dental treatment under medical sleep (sedation) in the following cases:

  • when long dental procedures are required, lasting more than two hours;

  • when complex dental treatment is needed, involving several specialists (therapist, implant surgeon, etc.);

  • when complex surgical interventions are performed, including multiple implantations or extractions.

The specialists at the “Sa-Nata” clinic will be sure to consult you regarding this procedure and answer all your questions.

This practice (treatment under anesthesia) has long been common in dental clinics across Europe and America. Dentists around the world strive to ensure that dental treatment is as comfortable and pleasant as possible for patients — without causing fear or anxiety.

We look forward to seeing you at “Sa-Nata,” where your teeth will always be healthy, and your smile — truly amazing!
