Baby Tooth Extraction

When and why is it necessary to remove a baby tooth?

As a rule, baby teeth fall out on their own. This happens around the age of six. Due to their important function as a placeholder for permanent teeth, attempts are made to save baby teeth in case of caries or other damage. However, if baby teeth happen to be too inflamed or decayed, the crown of the baby tooth can often no longer help save the tooth. In such cases, the only option is to extract the baby tooth. This is necessary to protect the subsequent, permanent tooth from caries bacteria and inflammation.

It is quite possible that the disease can transfer to the permanent tooth and damage it. This can lead to tooth deformation or root breakage.

In some cases, it may even happen that the baby tooth is denser than usual, and therefore the next tooth cannot erupt. In this case, the pediatric dentist of the SA-NATA clinic can also help by extracting baby teeth from a child to make room for permanent teeth. We use computer anesthesia to perform the extraction so that your child does not feel any pain. The procedure will take only a few minutes, and your baby will be able to go home with you.

Removal of baby teeth in Kyiv is an extreme measure that we perform at the dental clinic "SA-NATA". Baby teeth in children fall out on their own in the process of natural transformation into permanent teeth.

Milk tooth extraction - when is it necessary

6 important reasons for extraction:

  • An inflammatory process has developed and the infection can spread to the embryo of a permanent unit.
  • A permanent tooth is already erupting, but the baby tooth has not yet fallen out.
  • A baby tooth is delaying the eruption of a permanent tooth or does not allow it to erupt properly.
  • A tooth has suffered greatly from periodontitis, a fistula has formed on the gum.
  • A serious injury has occurred that did not allow the tooth to be left.
  • A loose baby tooth causes discomfort to the child and injures the gums.

The doctors of the dental clinic "SA-NATA" carefully remove baby teeth of any complexity. Each child has their own psychological approach. We carefully prepare the baby for the procedure - we play and communicate.

All surgical procedures are carried out in sterile conditions.

Extraction of a baby tooth - recommendations from specialists of the SA-NATA network of clinics

If you follow these precautions and recommendations, soon after the procedure your baby will only have memories of it:

  • Bite down firmly on a gauze pad for half an hour.
  • Do not eat anything while the local anesthetic is in your mouth. (Mineral) water or warm tea are suitable for drinking. From then on, give your baby easily digestible food and, if possible, avoid dairy products for one or two days.
  • Heat in any form, such as sunbathing or hot baths, is harmful for the first two days. Swelling and bleeding may occur.
  • Any swelling that begins should be reduced with a cold compress. To do this, put a few pieces of ice in a cloth and apply it to the outside of the cheek (change it often). Be careful with cold compresses from the refrigerator or freezer: they can cause damage to the skin while the local anesthetic is in effect, since the intense cold is not felt.
  • Unless specifically prescribed by a doctor, mouth rinses are unnecessary or even harmful.
  • Make sure your child does not insert fingers into the wound after extraction.
You can brush your teeth as usual, but you should avoid the wound area for three to four days.

Recommendations after the extraction of a baby tooth, the price of which is quite affordable, may vary depending on the individual case.
