Aligners

Modern orthodontics today is capable of much: to correct the bite of absolutely any complexity and at any age, taking into account not only the external aesthetics of the dentition, but also the functionality of the jaws, facial asymmetry, correct diction, and so on. When the bite is correct, a uniform and symmetrical load is formed on the jaw. With the help of bite correction, the factor of abrasion of tooth enamel, the formation of chips and cracks can be avoided, possible loss of teeth can also be avoided and even facial features can be changed. From this it follows that orthodontic treatment is not only about aesthetics, but also about health in general. Therefore, the orthodontic issue must be dealt with and this moment should not be ignored.

The field of dentistry never stands still, and the network of dental clinics "Sa-Nata" always "keeps up" with the times and is always up to date with the latest innovations and developments.

Aligners

An alternative to the bracket system - aligners are gaining more and more momentum in their popularity. How effective they are, what features of use, what advantages they have and why they are chosen to correct the bite, our orthodontists told us, and we are sharing with you in this article.

Aligners are removable orthodontic mouthguards made of a special flexible anti-allergic plastic with a transparent texture, due to which they are completely invisible on the teeth. Transparent mouthguards are not felt when worn, do not cause discomfort and do not distort your diction when talking. They must be worn all day and during sleep. Aligners can be freely removed during brushing your teeth and eating.

Transparent mouthguards are made according to the result of a special computer program that calculates in advance the individual dynamics of your teeth to the final future result and divides one or another of their positions into phases. Each set of aligners is a specific phase of the position of the teeth. On average, for effective orthodontic treatment, a patient needs to change approximately 25 pairs of aligners, which need to be replaced every 14 days. But the first results of treatment are noticeable after a couple of weeks!

How is everything going?

  1. Diagnostics. Like any other dental treatment, it all starts with a detailed diagnosis. In this case, 3D computer diagnostics is used using the Primescan Sirona intraoral scanner. No casts are needed anymore, and the scanning process itself takes a maximum of 5-10 minutes of your time.
  2. Treatment plan. Drawing up a treatment plan is based on the result of the obtained scan with a visualized end result in a 3D model format. As mentioned earlier, the computer predicts the further position of the teeth in certain periods of time until the result is obtained, divides this process into phases, and for each such phase, an individual pair of mouth guards is developed, which is intended for regular change once every 2 weeks.
  3. Approval and production. One of the many advantages of aligners is that it is immediately clear what the result of your treatment will be, as well as how long it will take. The finished model of the future dream smile is approved by the specialist and the patient, and after that, the production of mouthguards begins. The Sa-Nata chain independently manufactures aligners in its own digital dental laboratory, Sa-Nata Dynasty. We choose the highest quality materials, control every process of manufacturing structures and work exclusively with modern innovative equipment, the manufacturers of which are world market leaders.
  4. During the next visit to the orthodontist, you will receive several pairs of mouth guards at once for a couple of months in advance. The specialist also talks about recommendations for use and care, teaches you how to put on and take off the aligners.

Why choose aligners?

Why choose aligners?
  • Completely invisible on the teeth, even when talking
  • Oral hygiene does not change
  • Fast patient adaptation and comfort in daily use
  • You can immediately see the predicted end result of treatment
  • Aligners are able to align both one / several teeth, their inclination, and the entire dentition
  • There are no emergency dental visits required, such as emergency visits due to a broken archwire or one of the braces coming off
  • Aligners are absolutely anti-allergic
  • Due to the fact that the mouthguards have a very tight fit to the surface of the tooth, there is no irritation of the mucous membranes and gums
  • Due to the fact that the mouthguards are removable, you can not radically change your diet of habitual nutrition - it's very convenient

In some individual cases, special attachments are attached - attachments, which in turn serve as “levers” of pressure and additionally help the aligners move the teeth in the right direction. As with braces, individual retainers are required after orthodontic treatment with aligners. The retainer serves as an “insurance” against further tooth separation, because the teeth are constantly moving throughout our life.

Of course, treatment with aligners requires discipline and consistency, otherwise a successful result cannot be achieved.

What do you need to know about aligners?

  • Mouthguard should be used 20-22 hours a day, ie all day and during sleep. It is allowed to remove the mouth guard while eating and brushing your teeth. The water in the aligners is allowed to drink.

  • Hot drinks cannot be drunk in the mouth guard
  • Do not wash aligners in hot water as they may change shape. It is better to use water at room temperature.
  • It is advisable not to chew gum while wearing aligners.
  • Every 14 days, a pair of custom-made mouthguards must be changed.
  • It is recommended to visit your orthodontist for an examination and to track the progress of treatment once every 6 weeks.

It is impossible to decide on your own the choice of aligners or braces, since each patient's clinical situation is very individual. This requires a detailed diagnosis and professional assessment of a specialist, and sometimes even several. For example, in our clinic, an orthodontist and a gnathologist often work together. This is done in order to choose the most effective method of treatment and eliminate all complications and failures.

Aligners align both the entire tooth row and the incorrect position of one or more teeth. But with strong deformations and anomalies of the jaws, only braces can cope. Therefore, aligners are not suitable for everyone. To find out, we recommend that you visit our experienced orthodontists for a consultation and examination. The specialist will study your clinical “picture” in detail and, thanks to an integrated approach to treatment at the Sa-Nata clinic, they will professionally select all possible ways to solve the problem for you. There are no unresolved issues and complex tasks for “Sa-Nata”!
