Bracket systems are made from various materials — metal, ceramic, sapphire, and plastic. The choice depends on the treatment goals, aesthetic preferences, and the patient’s budget. Metal braces are the strongest and most affordable but less aesthetic. Ceramic and sapphire braces are nearly invisible but more expensive. For complete invisibility, lingual braces are used, which are attached to the inner side of the teeth.

On average, the duration of wearing braces increases by 6–8 months compared to teenagers and depends on the defect’s complexity, oral health condition, and the type of system chosen. Adults often require preliminary treatment or tooth extraction to create space. The average treatment duration ranges from 1 to 3 years, followed by a retention period to secure the results.

Braces for children and teenagers are usually placed between the ages of 11 and 13, when the second molars have already erupted. At this age, bite correction progresses faster than in adults - even complex defects can be corrected within 1 to 2.5 years. The most important thing is to visit the orthodontist on time to develop a proper bite and achieve a beautiful smile.

The duration of wearing braces depends on many factors: the complexity of the defect, the degree of tooth crowding, the patient’s age, any previous surgeries, and the type of system chosen. On average, treatment can last from several months to a few years. The orthodontist determines the optimal duration individually, based on the patient’s bite characteristics and dental condition.

The installation of braces is a process in which miniature brackets are attached to each tooth and connected by an orthodontic archwire and elastic bands. The structure gently aligns the dental arch and corrects the bite. Braces can be placed on both jaws or combined - aesthetic ones on the upper jaw and metal ones on the lower.
