The materials used to manufacture bracket systems include metal, ceramic, and sapphire. The type of orthodontic appliance recommended in each case depends on the nature of the treatment, the type of tooth enamel, and the patient’s preferences regarding the appearance and cost of the brackets. High-quality professional services cannot be too cheap; on the contrary, an unreasonably low price should make you question the qualifications of your orthodontist. Metal bracket systems are the most common. They are preferred due to their high strength and relatively low cost. However, they are not the most aesthetically appealing option. The advantage, though, is that treatment with metal braces usually takes less time compared to systems made from other materials.

Sapphire, plastic, and ceramic bracket systems are the closest in color to the natural shade of teeth. Therefore, their presence is almost invisible to others. Plastic and ceramic options are slightly less aesthetic because, to ensure rigidity, they are equipped with metal locks. In addition, plastic tends to become discolored under the influence of food. Sapphire braces are virtually invisible on perfectly white teeth. This synthetic material sparkles and shimmers gently, like a precious gemstone. However, the cost of such braces is significantly higher. To make braces completely invisible, you can choose lingual models. These are also made of metal, but they are fixed on the inner (tongue-facing) surface of the teeth.
