• Bite down firmly on a gauze pad for half an hour.
• Do not eat anything while the local anesthetic is in your mouth. (Mineral) water or warm tea are suitable for drinking. From then on, give your baby easily digestible food and, if possible, avoid dairy products for one or two days.
• Heat in any form, such as sunbathing or hot baths, is harmful for the first two days. Swelling and bleeding may occur.
• Any swelling that begins should be reduced with a cold compress. To do this, put a few pieces of ice in a cloth and apply it to the outside of the cheek (change it often). Be careful with cold compresses from the refrigerator or freezer: they can cause damage to the skin while the local anesthetic is in effect, since the intense cold is not felt.
• Unless specifically prescribed by a doctor, mouth rinses are unnecessary or even harmful.
• Make sure your child does not insert fingers into the wound after extraction.
  You can brush your teeth as usual, but you should avoid the wound area for three to four days.
